Basic Emergency Checklist and Kit Preparation List

In the world today we have experienced a range of crisis, food supply delays, disasters and emergencies. It is critical to be prepared at all times to expect the unexpected event to keep you and your family safe.

The following is a list of basic essential items to keep on hand at
all times in the event of a crisis or disaster. This information is not
all inclusive but has been gathered by researching dozens of sources.
If you have additional ideas please email us and we will appreciate it.
So we will be updating our Emergency Checklist from time to time
and will include new ideas.

Your basic emergency supply checklist and kit might include the following suggested items:

Aluminum foil
Air Mattress
Backup Generator
Batteries
Blankets
Bleach
Booster cables
Boots
Camping equipment (if needed)
Can opener (manual)
Canned Foods
Cash or traveler's checks
Cell phone with chargers and a backup battery
Children Toys, Books, Games
Clothes (appropriate for your climate, extra dry socks, jackets)
Compass
Documents such as copies of insurance policies, family records, passports etc.
Duct tape
Dust mask (help filter contaminated air)
Eyeglasses
Emergency preparedness manual
Feminine supplies and personal hygiene items
Fire extinguisher (5 lb., A-B-C type)
Fire starters (Cans of Sterno, Charcoal, Firelogs, Lighter Fluid, Cotton Balls with Petroleum jelly can easily start a fire)
First aid (see First Aid List)
Flares
Flashlight and extra batteries
Food (non-perishable food like high energy foods - at least a 3 day supply)
Knife (all purpose outdoor)
Garbage Bags
Gloves (Work or Weather Protective)
Lighter
Map (paper, local)
Matches (in a waterproof container)

Water Purification with Bleach and Medical Dropper -
"Most emergency experts and health officials suggest a mixture of
8 drops of bleach to a gallon of generally clear water for best results."

Kit Storage Locations

The following is recommended by Ready.Gov website

"Since you do not know where you will be when an emergency occurs, prepare supplies for home, work and cars.

Home:
Keep this kit in a designated place and have it ready in case you have to
leave your home quickly. Make sure all family members know where the kit is kept.

Work:
Be prepared to shelter at work for at least 24 hours. Your work kit should include
food, water and other necessities like medicines, as well as comfortable
walking shoes, stored in a “grab and go” case.

Car:
In case you are stranded, keep a kit of emergency supplies in your car."
